  Last Friday I arrived without an appointment at the Ambleside Animal Hospital with our 11 year old Labradoodle. Bella had not been her usual bouncy self and had been on & off her food a few different times in the past weeks. Dr. Liz Sang was able to see her almost immediately. She listened to my concerns, asked some questions and then gave Bella a physical. She suggested that we start with blood tests which quickly confirmed her initial thought when she had physically examined her... Bella was anemic. The Blood test also indicated that several other blood markers showed a concern. An ultra sound suggested there was fluid in her abdominal cavity. It was quickly decided that an X-ray would be necessary...it confirmed that Bella's spline was bleeding into her abdomen...suffice it to say that Bella's situation was serious and required immediate action! I cannot tell you how grateful I was for the time and compassion that Dr. Liz provided to me and my son. She gave us the facts, reviewed the pros/cons with us and then left us to discuss the options. We felt confident and hopeful when we made the decision for Bella to have surgery. This decision was made even sweeter because Dr. Booth who wasn't suppose to be in the office on Fri. had popped in and then agreed to stay and do the surgery. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you everyone for your care and kindness. For the follow-up visits and the phone calls to check up on Bella.   This is the best place to take your animals. The receptionists and assistants are friendly, and try and get you in as soon as possible to the examination rooms. When you call in to get an appointment they are all up to date on our dog's history etc. They are great at sending you reminders of what your dog's next visit should include. Dr. Chris Booth is awesome. Very personable and informative and explains what he is doing and for what reason, and provides you with options if necessary. He is great with animals and he gives you the time needed and you don't feel rushed during the appointment. He answers questions. (Wouldn't mind him as our family Doctor, but he doesn't look after humans). If a report comes in from pathology he lets you know himself. His attitude is very positive and upbeat, and our dog enjoys the visits as much as her master. This is our 5th Golden Retriever and we have the best Vet. yet.
